Hofburg Palace (Redoutensaal)
Address:   Josefsplatz, 1010 Vienna

The Redoutensaal is a venue at the Hofburg, the grand imperial palace in the heart of Vienna.

Redoutensaal means "fancy-dress ball room". Mozart, who loved to dance and to masquerade, attended many balls here.

At this magnificent hall have taken place many historical events- it has been the setting for Mozart operas, the premiere of Beethoven’s 8th symphony, performances by Niccolo Paganini, Franz Liszt and Josef Strauss and a summit between J. F. Kennedy and Nikita Khrushchev.

The Redoutensaal was extensively refurbished and modernised in 1992 after a fire.
