Offenbach’s greatest work is about a poet, who shares the story of his four great loves: a wind-up doll, an innocent singer, a cruel courtesan… and the woman who combines them all.
Tenor Ivan Ayon Rivas is the romantic poet Hoffmann in Offenbach’s fantastical tale. He is joined by a trio of leading ladies: Rocío Pérez sings the mechanical doll Olympia, Carmela Remigio is the fragile Antonia, and Veronique Gens portrays Giulietta, the Venetian courtesan. Alex Esposito sings the sinister Four Villains and Giuseppina Bridelli is Niklausse, Hoffmann’s friend and muse. Antonello Manacorda conducts.
