Legendary superstar Plácido Domingo sings Nabucco, the King of Babylon—alternating with Enkhbat Amartuvshin. Anna Pirozzi is the cruel and ambitious Abigaille and Riccardo Zanellato is the noble high priest of Jerusalem, Zaccaria. Freddie De Tommaso and Szilvia Vörös are the young lovers, Ismaele and Fenena. Paolo Carignani conducts.

Giuseppe Verdi (1813–1901) is considered the preeminent Italian opera composer of the 19th century. In the course of his remarkable career he composed 28 operas, at least half of which are staples of today’s opera repertory.

The professional librettist Temistocle Solera (1815–1878) wrote the text for Nabucco based on the play Nabuchodonosor by Auguste Anicet-Bourgeois and Francis Cornuand on Antonio Cortesi’s ballet Nabuccodonosor.
