The Vienna Hofburg Orchestra
Founded in 1971, the Vienna Hofburg Orchestra has a long tradition of performing Viennese classical music in the city's historic concert halls.
Its repertoire centres on the music of Mozart, the Strauss family and the great operetta composers. During the Christmas and New Year concerts, the orchestra is joined by opera soloists, bringing together orchestral music and some of Vienna's best-loved vocal works.
The Festival Hall of the Vienna Hofburg
The concerts take place in the magnificent Festsaal, the largest ceremonial hall of the Vienna Hofburg Palace.
Originally conceived as an imperial throne room, the hall was completed in 1923, after the end of the Habsburg monarchy. Its impressive ceiling paintings, elegant architectural details and grand proportions make it one of Vienna's most remarkable historic interiors.
Today, the Festival Hall provides a splendid setting for the music of Mozart, Strauss and Vienna's operetta tradition.
